Notice: The information below is provided for general reference only and is not legal advice. Specific ownership, licensing, publishing, royalty, and intellectual-property terms are governed by the signed agreement applicable to each project. All language on this page is editable and should be reviewed by a licensed attorney before final publication.

Overview — What You Are Purchasing

Purchasing songwriting, custom-song, production, or related creative services from Dream Today Studios does not automatically transfer copyright ownership to the customer unless the customer's specific package or signed written agreement expressly states that copyright ownership is being transferred.

The rights you receive depend on the package you purchase and any separate written agreement you sign. The information on this page explains the general framework. Your specific project agreement controls in all cases.

1.Standard Song Services

For original songwriting created by Dream Today Studios, copyright and songwriting ownership in original lyrics and/or musical composition created by Dream Today Studios or its writers remain with the applicable writer/rightsholder unless otherwise stated in a signed written agreement.

The customer's project agreement will specify the license and permitted uses included with the purchased package. A standard purchase is a license to use, not a copyright transfer.

What a standard purchase is not

A standard purchase does not transfer ownership of the underlying copyright. It does not grant the right to register the work as your own composition, claim sole authorship, or exploit the work beyond the uses permitted in your project agreement.

2.Exclusive Rights / Copyright Transfer

Certain projects may be eligible for the purchase or transfer of additional or exclusive rights for an additional fee. All transfers must be documented in a separate written agreement identifying exactly which rights are being transferred.

Rights that may be separately addressed

  • Lyrics
  • Musical composition
  • Publishing rights
  • Sound recording / master
  • Performance rights
  • Distribution rights
  • Commercial-use rights
  • Royalty interests
  • Songwriter / authorship credit

No vague promises

Dream Today Studios does not use or honor vague promises such as "you own everything" or "100% full rights." Any transfer of rights is limited to what is expressly stated in a signed written agreement.

Pricing

Pricing for exclusive rights and copyright transfers is quoted separately based on the project and the specific rights requested.

3.Songwriter Credit

Songwriting and authorship credits will accurately reflect who actually contributed copyrightable songwriting to the work. Rights ownership, royalty splits, publishing interests, and credits should be documented in the applicable project agreement or songwriter split documentation.

Dream Today, LLC and Timsha Banks do not automatically retain 100% of songwriting rights when another songwriter has contributed copyrightable material. Credit and ownership reflect actual creative contributions as documented in the signed agreement.

4.Sound Recording & Artist Performance

Rights involving an artist's vocal performance and the final sound recording/master may be different from ownership of the underlying song/composition. Owning a song does not automatically mean owning a recording of that song.

An appropriate written artist/performance agreement or release is required before Dream Today, LLC commercially releases or exploits a recording featuring another artist. Payment for a performance does not automatically transfer all rights in the performance or sound recording.

5.Project-Specific Terms

The specific rights, licenses, credits, and ownership terms for your project are governed by the signed agreement applicable to that project. This page is general information only and is not a substitute for a project-specific signed contract.
